OVERVIEW: Solys Electronics was called in to provide specialized maintenance and servicing for the existing backup power systems at the Welkom Campus of the Central University of Technology. Our focus was to restore, stabilize, and enhance system reliability across the campus.
THE CHALLENGE: The campus had been experiencing erratic power support due to wear on core solar components and inconsistent backup performance â which directly affected critical campus operations, student workspaces, and IT infrastructure during load-shedding.
Scope and Execution
Our service team carried out:
- Diagnostic checks on inverters and battery banks
- Repairs, replacements, and performance optimization
- Preventative maintenance to extend system lifespan and reliability
OUTCOME:
Following our intervention, the backup systems now run more efficiently and with greater stability, ensuring students and staff experience fewer disruptions during blackouts. CUT Welkom can now rely on its backup power when it matters most.
